Showing Off Owen's Brains

Our lil' man is certainly growing up.  A couple months ago, Cory and I noticed Owen pointing to letters in his book and identifying them correctly.  At first, we both thought it was just a coincidence. But after a week or two, we realized Owen was really learning his letters at a young 18 months.

Now, Owen is 22 or so months and he knows nearly all of his letters. There are a few that still trips him up (J, A, W, R, P).  However...he will point to W if asked, he just can't say it. For "P" he will just say "pah", the sound it makes. "A", he insists, is N. He's pretty adamant about that. Perhaps he knows something that I don't.

Here is Owen showing off his brains. He started off w/ his animal puzzle--doing great w/ putting the pieces in the proper place and then doing the animal sounds. We won't say the animals names...but he will almost always do the sound. You just gotta know how to interpret what he's saying!

Now, isn't his rendition of Cock-a-doodle-doo just too cute?!?!

Let, Let, Let all the Children

Bethany sang at church a couple of weeks ago. She loves the choir.   I just love her lil' shy girl facial expressions.

She's just too much!

Bethany There was a Lil' Baby

This weekend, Bethany and the whole Sunbeams choir at church treated the 9:30 service with an awesome performance of "There was a Little Baby". Bethany did fantastic, as usual. Here is a video of her performance.

If this doesn't plaster a freakishly large smile on your face...I am not sure if anything ever could.

Bethany Takes on the Pledges

Bethany is certainly learning a lot in preschool. The other night she grabs Owen's bible and start saying the Pledge to the Bible. Then she segways into the Pledge of Alligiance. It turns out she knows these two and there is the Pledge to the Christian Flag, which she doesn't quite have down.  Really after looking up the words, who can blame her.  I had no clue she was learning these pledges. She knew them better than some of my students.  I was pretty impress at just how much information this little brain of hers can store.  I decided to capture the pledges Bethany-style.

Man, did that put a smile on your face? She is just too adorable. You gotta love the way she says "Indivisible."

Seriously. She. Is. Adorable.

Bethany on Tape!

So a few months back, right when Bethany turned 3. I asked her a series of questions.  I am going to try to ask her the same questions as she gets older.   Here is a video of her telling me her favorites and what not.

By the way...I totally learned not to let her have anything in her hands while I am trying to hold a conversation with her. That book was a total distraction. Silly Girl!

Sprinkles Galore!

Bethany and I baked cupcakes today.  From Scratch. We made these cakes here from this site.  They Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Cupcakes.  They required 6.5 sticks of butters, 2 1/4 c of brown sugar, 3 c of powder sugar and tons of other gooey goodness.  Seriously, these suckers took me several hours to make and I am sure they will take several days to work off.  But man they are delicious!

Well, while we were in between steps, I took a break from stirring, licking and adding calories to check something online (no, actually I wasn't on Facebook).  Anyway.  When I turned around. This is what I found.

Seriously. How fast can that kid move? I wasn't zoned out that long. But remember this has happened to use before. Remember the Goldfish incident or the Pudding disaster?  But at least she had the sprinkles in the neat lil' cupcake holders.  Too bad that didn't last too long.  What you missed was the dumping of two containers of said sprinkles on the floor. Then she proceeded to nibble away!  That girl! I tell you what, it is great I bear only 1 child at a time. I don't know what I'd do if I had twins! :O)

Whoa---oooooo

On the way to Children's hospital Friday, Bethany breaks out in song. Oh...it's not your traditional toddler song like Itsy-Bitsy Spider.

She is bringing back Bon Jovi's Living on a Prayer.

That's my girl!

Fun on a Couch!

What do you do when your 1 year old is grouchy?

Why put him on the couch. He'll go crazy!

He loves crawling back and forth. When it is time to take him down, however, you'll be in for real trouble! For added fun..throw in an almost 3 year old!

Microwaving and Standing

A quick video on the kiddos playing together. They love that kitchen so much.

It is kinda funny if you notice Bethany takes that cupcake away and tries to put it up higher so he can't reach it. The poor boy! But did you noticed how he pulled up. I think he's been doing it secretly for a week or so. I've turned around before and noticed him falling back to a sitting position. But, we've never caught him standing up or pulling up by himself. That crazy boy. I guess he doesn't want to seem like a show-off. But finally he decided to show up the skills he has been honing secretly!

When Zombies Attack...

It isn't everyday that your 2-year-old learns to sacrifice her toys to the zombies...but when she does learn, you'd best tape it!

Reading to Owen!

Bethany loves to read books. She's gotten in the habit of reading before and after bathtime.

She does a pretty good job at reading the pages. She has so many stories memories...it is pretty remarkable!

Here is a quick video of reading, "How Does a Dinosaur say Goodnight."

I need...

Can you figure out what she is saying...

Cory and I really have been working on our listening & critical thinking skills this past week or two. Bethany has started blurring all of these so-called-words together, expecting us to understand what the heck she is talking about. We have finally figured out what the little girl is trying to communicate to us. She used to say "noi" when she wanted something. Now it is, "I heheNee **insert object here****. " This all started with apples. "I hehehypal" We were wondering why she was thinking she was hyper. But after awhile, we realized she wanted apples. Now we are getting used to her blurred sentences. I did feel guilty for a while there not knowing what she was saying. We tell her to use her words instead of whining & when she was using her words...it wasn't making much of a difference as I didn't know what in blazes she was saying.

Good thing we are learning just as quickly as she is! :)

We Wish You a Merry D'oh-mas!

Bethany loves her "D'oh" Santa. She loves to sing and dance with him.

P.S. for some reason Blogger puts a second video image on the blog post. I can't get rid of it. So...either ignore it or enjoy our cutie-pie twice as much!
