Happy Halloween

Well, on my first Halloween I was sick. That was a bit disappointing. Dad was looking forward to exploiting my good looks for candy. He will have to wait until next year (unless some of you take pity on our miserable situation and send candy our way!).

So.... Here was how our day went down:

2 am: I woke up talking in my crib.

3:30 am: I started to fuss, so I finally got Mom and Dad out of bed, too!

4-5 am: Dad and Mom debated whether or not we should stay home. I kept on telling them I wasn't feeling right. My voice was raspy and I was very clingy to them. I don't know why they were so confused. It was obviously I felt like pooh!

5:30 am: Mom and Dad dropped me off at Grandma's, so that Mom can write her sub plans. I don't understand why she needed to write plans for some sandwich. It didn't make sense to me. I just wanted to be cuddled and loved!

7 am-2pm: Hung out with Grandma and Mom.

2 pm: Saw the doctor. She said I had a viral infection. Not much to do about it. I am too little for any meds. So I just got to work the gunk out of my system.

5 pm: Had Halloween dinner with the folks and Grandparents.

6 pm: Turned in for the night.

Seriously, What a lame Halloween. At least I wore my costume all day long. I definitely got my money's worth out of it!

I can really suck.

Look at me! I can suck my thumb through on of my chain links.
Aren't I impressive?

Halloween Party!

We had our first Halloween Party this weekend. Bethany was the cutest Pumpkin there. Cory and I were bad and didn't dress up (Sorry, Laura!) At least one-third of the Milleses followed directions! We had a great time Saturday night. Bethany is a fantastic party-goer! However, I do think that Brad's brother startled her in his gorey costume. Poor thing, doesn't know how to handle bloody skeletons!

Like Father, Like Daughter

Bethany has recently taken to the Simpsons. Geez, this is something we best nip in the bud--before we end up with a 2nd Simpsons' Room!

Sitting up!

I surprised Mommy last weekend with my amazing ability to sit up. I wanted until she least expected it & stayed sitting up after she started changing my clothes. Boy, was she surprised!

Gotta get the Toy...

Bethany has progressed leaps and bounds army crawling toward toys. I put her favorite toy a few feet away from her and she diligently scooted toward it for a good half-an-hour. As you can see in the progression of shot she actually reached it!

Scott Spiezio

Bethany is the proud owner of a Scott Spiezio shirt. It is a one of a kind creation, made possible by one of Cory's students. This student was a gigantic Scott Spiezio fan and wanted to share her love of him with Bethany. I got to say, Bethany looked pretty hip in her Spiezio fan club shirt!

Before & After

This is Bethany before she gets to eat yummy cereal and carrots! Notices how neat and clean she is!

Here is Bethany while she is eatting her carrots and cereal. For the life of me, I cannot feed her without getting it all over the place. I am sure that she is going to think it is customary to strip down to her knickers before eatting any meals. One of these days we will learn how to get more in her tummy than on her body.

High Life in a High Chair

We finally assembled Bethany's high chair. She loves it. It is a pretty impressive piece of equipment. It comes with an entertainment center. The purpose behind this is to "entertain your baby while you prepare their meals." Really, do they think this is necessary. First of all, it isn't too difficult to prepare Bethany's meal at this point in her life. Secondly, do they think that if she was hungry this would entertain her. She has absolutely no concept of waiting a minute. In her hungry-lil' mind, she wants food--NOW. She doesn't realize that waiting a minute is a feasible and quite reasonable request. She will just fuss and fuss until she gets what she wants.
However, we placed her in this contraption while she was quite complacent. She was mesmerised for 15 minutes. She was timid at first, then she started flailing her arms. She started (inadvertently) hitting the red button causing the monkeys to sing and the lights to blink. It was pretty entertaining!

Forget the Formula!

We have finally got an answer the long debated questions: Which is better coke or pepsi! Bethany is so interested in the coke can, that she practically takes it out of my hand when I drink while holding her.

By Cory's request, I am adding a pic to this post. As I was taking a drink, Bethany decided to join in the fun. It is his opinion this is the best of them all. I don't think she realizes there is only one hole in the can...and I'd be darn if I let her have caffeine already!

Bath Time!

No matter what mood we are in before bath time, we are always happy and playful as soon as we hit the water. It has remarkable soothing properties! Bethany has a new bathtub seat now. We don't have to fill a small, separate tub and carry it to the counter anymore. She gets to use our tub. What a gigantic tub for one lil' girl!

We went to the doctor Wednesday for her 4 month check up. Here are the latest stats:

  • Weight= 12 lbs 6 oz-->25th percentile
  • Height=24.25 inches-->50th percentile
  • Head=16.24 inches--> 75th percentile

So, her doctor wasn't completely pleased with Bethany's weight. So, we are to feed her rice and veggies twice a day. At Bethany's two month check up, her weight was at the 50th percentile...it dropped a bunch. :(

If these numbers mean anything, I guess they mean she will be a thin brainiac!

Scooting & Rolling!!!

Bethany has been trying something that resembles crawling. She pulls her legs underneath her then she pushes off. She can move a foot or two this way. She usually combines these actions with some rolling. So, the pictures above are of her scooting/rolling.She gets best movement when she is MAD. I took these pics as I had her down while I was trying to cook dinner.

The bad thing with her new scooting abilities is that she is no longer in the right position when she wakes up in the morning. Even though we place her in her sleep positioner, she rolls/scoots/transports out of it to be found in some random position & location in the crib.

The question is: How soon do you think it will be until she starts crawling for real? I am guessing it is sooner rather than later. She seems pretty interested in being mobile.

Playing with my Toys

Bethany really is enjoying playing with toys now. It is so much fun to watch her play. Notice the lack of hair she has now. I can't believe how much has fallen out since she is born. In case you don't remember...flip back on the June tab. It is unbelievable. Perhaps we should stock up in some baby Rogaine!

Our Pumpkin playing with a pumpkin!

Bethany stayed all day with her Grandmas. We had Parent/Teacher conferences Thursday. Her Grandma Croghan brought her over this pumpkin. She is really taken to playing with toys now. It is amazing to watch her be so engrossed in the simplest toy/object. She really is something else!
